A Very Special Day

February 18, 2010 was a very special day that brought two very special families close together. One of the families is one of my immediate ones. This is the surrogate birth story Myles. But first, I wanted to include some text written by my sister in law to Jenn, the mom.

"What a special day that brought our families together. The birth of Myles is one I will remember just like the birth of my boys. The most special moment for me was looking over at you and Chris holding your son, and seeing the joy in your eyes. I look forward to watching your journey as parents to little Myles. To me, there is no greater joy than being a parent. I am so grateful to be a part of your family."

The parents await

That's Alison showing Jenn what "words with friends" is all about. (app on iphone)

A little less than an hour to go!

The nurse coming in to tell her she's about ready.

Welcome to the world, Myles.

First family pic!

The experience of being there for the birth was an unexplainable one. I laughed, I cried. It was the first birth I've ever been in the room for. The miracle of life is really a fascinating thing. Jenn and Chris you have a beautiful family and I can't wait to watch Myles grow.

If You're in the Area...

Our Senior Class is having a gallery exhibit at Beatnik studios. If you're in the area when the show runs feel free to stop by! :)

My project is still in progress...I'll post it when I finish. I have a pretty good idea of what to do with what I got in my envelope. Can't wait to share!

Product Shoot!

One of my assignments for my studio lighting class is to photograph a product. Here are few products I've shot.

Toilet Paper:

My Grandpa gave me these Curacao bottles because I was very intrigued by the shape of the bottle. It looks like it could be some sort of potion. However I'm not sure if Curacao counts as a product...file this one under the food/drink category.

I'm not sure which color I like better.

Take a wild guess what this product is?

This class is really a blast. I've been enjoying every minute of it. Will post more as the semester continues...

Welcome Delaney!

On January 30th we welcomed Delaney Hennagin into the world. This is my sister's first biological child but she has been a mom for almost 10 years to her step-daughter, Audrey. My sister is one of the sweetest most kind hearted people I know and I am so so happy and grateful for her and her family.

This is when I first arrived. They had her walking around the hospital hallways to try and help induce labor.

While they were out, I snapped a photo of the empty room.

This is when the contractions started getting worse. She wanted peace and quiet so during [what seemed like] the long process of waiting for Delaney to arrive, I snapped a few photos. This one was right outside the hospital at sunset.

My nephews were bored and anxiously waiting. They needed something to do.

Welcome Delaney! 7lbs. 7oz. and 20.5 inches long.

Getting her feet stamped..

This one makes me smile. :)

Delaney and I...

Delaney and her big sis, Audrey.

A quiet moment with mom and newborn.

Congratulations Dave, Courtney, and Audrey! :)

Disneyland/ California Adventure 2009

So this post is long overdue but I had to share it. Right after Christmas my Dad, Mom and I took my Grandma Bonnie to Disneyland/California Adventure! I've never been to Disneyland around Christmas and from what I've heard, it's pretty spectacular...and what I heard was right. It was amazing! The amount of detail they put into the park makes it worth while to visit during Christmas time even though it may be one of the busiest times of the year. Ok enough writing, I have lots of photos to share...

Grandma, Dad, and Mom in front of the tree.

One of many "lands"

Every couple hours or so a live cast from "Princess and the Frog" would perform..

You can see the dinosaur sights while you ride the Train around the park..

"Small World." I asked one of the workers how many lights they put up. She replied, "Around 50,000."

Inside Small World...which was also decorated for Christmas. I just chose a pic I thought was neat..

Pirates...

Mom really liked the music for Disney's Electrical Parade...

View from Tarzan's Treehouse...

I was so proud of my Grandma. She's 80 years old and she went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, and the Matterhorn. I hope I can say the same when I'm 80!

Mom and I...

The Haunted Mansion...If any of you are Nightmare Before Christmas lovers this is the ride for you!!

Mom and I got soaked on Spash Mountain. It was cold that day but definitely worth it.

Grandma makes friends pretty easily...

Space Mountain. Love the lighting on this...

The Christmas Tree...

Silouette of Splash Mountain..

If you haven't checked it out I would recommend it! The lines are a bit much but that's why you choose your fastpasses wisely. :)

PS!!
If you have an iphone there is an application that you can check all the ride times. It's pretty accurate. Someone told me about it and it definitely helps when you are planning out a ride schedule! Just search "Wait Times, Disneyland" in the app store. Here's a screen shot from California Adventure...
