Volunteering @ Kid's Day

Today I volunteered at an event called Kid's Day at Hagan Park. I was part of the Sac State group which had a variety of activities for the kids to do. (and the parents in some cases :)

Some of the activities were bean bag toss, face painting, football throw, sling shot targets, nail painting for the little girls, balloon animals, and more.

I came in and asked what I could help with and I was assigned to making different figurines out of balloons. I've never made a balloon animal, or dog, or anything in my life. My confidence of taking this on was low in the beginning but by the end I was a master in making a sword, any type of hat, and a flower expert. I wish I would have taken some photos of the ones I did so you can see a visual of what I was talking about.
I did manage to snap a few photos with my phone though.

There was never a dull moment for our station, we had people lining up to get a baloon.

We had 4 big bags of balloons and the 4 of us worked until they were all gone. There was still a line when we ran out of balloons and some kids did cry. But there were plenty of other activities to be had.

I worked @ this station for awhile. Or at least until the candy was gone. Kids don't care about anything unless there is a prize involved. There were still a few troopers who didn't care about the candy and just wanted to kick the ball.

Some kids I could tell don't get to do these kinds of things a lot and it felt awesome to interact with them and make them smile...even if my rocket ship balloons did look like a spider. It's the imagination that counts right?

The Final Reveal

Tomorrow I go pick up my photo that was hung for the "Final Reveal Show" at Beatnik studios along with all the other graduating seniors in my class. The reception was a great turnout and a big thank you to everyone who came!

Thanks to Christina for snapping this photo by my piece. :)

Hannah

For this session I discovered a new place to photograph. Who knew that by the Davis University airport was such a cool spot to take pictures at? That's where I met Hannah. She told me she was nervous at first but by the end of the session she was a total pro! Here are a few of her photos:

Thanks to Rose for letting us borrow the couch :)

Almost Due!

I wanted to share with you a photo I took of Rose yesterday out in a field in Dixon. She is absolutely glowing! At a little under 3 weeks away from her due date, Rose thinks baby girl Ashlyn Rose might be coming a little earlier than expected. I can't wait to meet her, she will be so loved!
